Developing Collagen Contraction Assays by Bioprinting Droplet and Ring Constructs
The collagen gel contraction assay has been widely used over the past decades to study biomechanical processes, tissue repair mechanisms and disease models in 3D.
In this application note, we are looking into how the BIO ONE can leverage 3D bioprinting to automate contraction-based assays and cell culture models. This is possible through the instrument’s capability to dispense collagen with precise volume and pattern control and thermal polymerization directly on a heated printbed as well as gel detachment through auto-release plate coatings.
Through the results of this application note, it is suggested that 3D bioprinting has accelerative automation potential for both simple and complex biomechanical assays.
