The Faces of Bioprinting: Meet Luz Martinez

Name: Luz Martinez
Job title: Quality Control Engineer
- Why are you interested in 3DBioprinting?
For the past 2 years I have been working with 3D printing. I became so interested that as soon as the industry became bigger I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life working with it. Right now all eyes are on 3D Bioprinting because of the possibilities it has on affecting our future.
- What about 3D Bioprinting do you find the most exciting?
The possibility to bioprint organs, skin, tissue and stop animal cruelty are all major reasons I find this field so enticing. I love working with technology and machines in general. Working with 3D Bioprinting was sort if an epiphany. To me metal and bioprinting were the most exciting fields. I decided to go with bioprinting due to how it will change our lives.
I think it’s important to be a game changer and I wanted to be apart of this. I always knew I wanted to be part of a new industrial revolution. I did not want to be left behind, I had to jump on the train as soon as I could.
- What else would you like people to know about your involvement with 3D Bioprinting?
I made a big sacrifice to start studying again after I had a family. I have two children, a house and a job that I enjoyed but knew I was destined for another path. I picked up my life, I moved and started studying 3D printing. After I completed my studies I was recruited to work for CELLINK which was a dream come true. I am so excited to work here and help change the future.
As a quality control engineer I am very passionate about improving the quality of our products. We have a good position in the market right now and having the best quality is key to remaining a leader.
